Alsancak
This village has something to offer everyone with its spectacular views, quiet village atmosphere and easy access to sandy beaches and restaurants. It is only 6 miles west of Kyrenia.
Catalkoy
This quaint, pretty village is approximately 6 miles east of Kyrenia and boasts wonderful views of the sea, Bellapais Abbey and the Five Finger Mountain Range. There are several newly created beaches and some of the best fish restaurants on the Island.
Bellapais

This historic village is set approximately 3 miles to the east of Kyrenia in an elevated position with wonderful views to Kyrenia and the coast. The village is dominated by Bellapais Abbey, which was originally founded in the 12th century by monks of the Augustinian Order, and is the most impressive Gothic building in Cyprus (a must see).
The Abbey is situated on a natural terrace overlooking the village of Ozankoy with a good selection of restaurants with local and international cuisine.
Esentepe
Located approximately 20 minutes car journey east of Kyrenia, the village goes back many years to ancient times, and it is here that you will find the old Christian church now used as a local mosque. The village boasts
many amenities from a Doctors surgery, police station, primary and secondary schools as well as grocers, bars and restaurants. The village has something for everyone whether relaxing on the stunning coastlines or, rambling walks in the pine forests nestled in the mountainside.
The new Korineum Championship Golf Course lies on the Esentepe Road as well as the planned Port Cyprium Marina – definitely an up and coming area.
Karsiyaka
Located west of Kyrenia and approximately a 20-minute car journey, the area affords stunning views of the highest mountain in the Five Finger Mountain Range. Karsiyaka hosts a small number of shops and some good fish restaurants located close to the water edge. A large sandy bay is a 5-minute drive away and there are many more sandy beaches between Karsiyaka and Kyrenia.
Kyrenia
The old carob warehouses which border the harbour have been converted into attractive cafes, restaurants, bars and private residences with the fishing boats and colourful yachts making this the ideal place to while away the hours. This fascinating town is situated on the northern coast of Cyprus. Its horseshoe-shaped harbour with backdrop of the Besparmak Mountains make Kyrenia one of the most beautiful areas on the
Island.
Kyrenia Castle overlooks the harbour, a truly magnificent edifice constructed in the 9th century to ward off Arab invaders.
There are plenty of place of interest in the area for those days when you want to do more than laze in the sun, including; Shipwreck Museum, Folklore Museum, Fine Arts Museum, Monument and Museum of Freedom and Peace, Cafer Pasha Museum, Bellapais Abbey and St Hilarion Castle.
Lapta
Renowned for its fresh water springs and laid-back way of life, Lapta is a sprawling village 9 miles west of Kyrenia. It is backed by the Besparmak Mountains and has spectacular views of both sea and mountains. The village has a lot to offer in the way of restaurants and has easy access to some good beaches.
Nicosia
Approximately 26km from Kyrenia. Nicosia became the capital of the Island under the Lusignan reign during the 13th to 15th centuries. The old city is surrounding by massive walls built by the Venetians to defend against the Turkish invasion in the 16th century. The old city remains the commercial centre and contains many wonderful historic monuments and buildings, with many fine examples of Gothic and Ottoman architecture.
Nicosia is the only divided capital city of the world. Drive along the ‘Green Line’, ‘Ledra Palace’; ‘Kyrenia Gate’. Visit and enjoy Kervansaray (Big Inn), St Sophie Cathedral and the covered bazaar. Don’t forget to visit the Saray Hotel rooftop to enjoy the whole view of both sides (North and South) of Nicosia.
Tatlisu
25 minutes car journey east of Kyrenia is the tranquil and peaceful village of Tatlisu. This village has some of the most stunning views in Northern Cyprus, as well as benefiting from the amenities of the neighbouring town of Esentepe.
Zeytinlik
Within easy access of Kyrenia yet set in a tranquil rural position amongst olive groves and overlooked by the spectacular St Hilarion Castle. Properties are located on the outskirts of this pretty village, but still within walking distance of restaurants, cafes and bars.
